TFS has developed a new method to detect fires before they burn in forests

The Tanzania Forest Service Agency (TFS) has trained various conservationists on a digital satellite system that is used to detect and control fires in response to climate change in forest areas, as part of efforts to reduce the environmental damage caused by Human economic activities including agriculture, livestock, construction, and mining.

Speaking at the training of forest and farm conservationists held in Morogoro region, the Senior Conservationist from TFS, Rogers Nyinondi, said that the digital satellite system will be of great benefit in fighting wildfires before they cause serious harm where he emphasized that the training is important for conservationists, as it will help them increase efficiency in dealing with fire incidents and ensure better forest protection.

The traditional leader in the Morogoro Region, Chief Kingalu Mwanabanzi the 15th, has said that no relationship between forest burning with traditions and customs and that the community should stop burning forests because it affects the environment and ecological agriculture.

The Chief Conservator for extension and propagation in the eastern region of Morogoro, Coast, and Dar Es Salaam Shaaban Kiulah has asked the conservators who received the training to educate others, to promote the understanding of the use of this technology which will be a great help in dealing with the challenge of forest burning.

Some of the Conservationists who received the training Lucia Maliga (Co ii) Forestry Officer Class II Vicent Masakaa (Co ii) Conservation Officer and Elien Jasto (Gr iii) Assistant Forestry Officer Class III have said, the education will help them to a large extent in dealing with and those actions since the system provides early information on mobile phones, that way will be the conclusion of the destruction of the environment through the actions of burning forests.
