The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has instructed the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports to prepare special strategies that will attract and bring various sports competitions to the country so that the constructed stadiums are used properly.
President Mwinyi said when he launched the second phase of the “Amani Sports Complex” Stadium, West Urban Region, which included various projects, including a hotel close to five-star status, an international-class restaurant, car parking, shops, and various sports grounds (indoor games) for Boxing, basketball, volleyball, handball and “long tennis”, as a continuation of the commemoration of the 61 years of the Zanzibar Revolution.
However, President Dr. Mwinyi has encouraged the use of the stadium’s conference halls for local and international meetings and called on citizens to take advantage of the opportunities available at the stadiums by participating in the games, to increase productivity and promote the sports sector in the country.
President Dr. Mwinyi has stated that Zanzibar has every reason to be proud of its excellent stadiums, which are modern international standards.
He said, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, phase eight, has placed Zanzibar at international standards, especially when it comes to sports that it will continue to carry international status by having high-quality stadiums in every area.
The launch of the second phase of the “Amani Sports Complex” Stadium was accompanied by special congratulations and a cake prepared by students of Preparatory, Primary, and Secondary Schools in memory of its birthday at the Amaan Stadiums, West Urban Region on 23 December 2024.
