In June 2024, through its Girls Forum Program, the non-governmental organization CAMFED from Tanzania brought together and gave the training to prepare for life in higher education, 300 students who graduated from Form Four from Tanga and Morogoro Region who are the beneficiaries of academic empowerment as a continuation of progressing the SDGs goal number four which talk about Quality Education.
The girls’ forum was held at Kilakala Secondary School, Morogoro Region, where a girl beneficiary of CAMFED programs from Kilosa District Council, Morogoro Region explained how she got help from the CAMFED.
“CAMFED has sponsored me where they have enabled me to get a third grade in my fourth form results, so I have been able to be selected for form five studies, as well as they have enabled to provide me with some important needs including books because our family has a difficult life situation”, he said SAKINA which is not her real name.
The students are sponsored by the CAMFED until they finish their studies, explained the Director of the Organization in Tanzania Nasikiwa Duke.
“These students come from difficult circumstances, some of their parents have died, these are the type of students that CAMFED supports, we always provide support for study materials, such as sanitary pads for the whole year, bicycles for those who come from far away from the school, we pay fares for students who are in the city throughout the year and we provide support for life skills education for students and parents” he added Nasikiwa Duke.
Official Guest at the Girls’ Forum, from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Monica Mpululu attended the event.
