President of the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC), Mr. Deogratius Nsokolo, has resigned.

Information issued by the Executive Director of UTPC Kenneth Simbaya on November 12, 2024, with reference number REF: No. UTPC/ED/PC /24 and the headline, “The official resignation of the President of UTPC” has explained that the retired President has received an appointment and a position that conflicts with the Constitution of UTPC.

“I would like to inform you that we have officially received the resignation letter of the President of UTPC, Mr. Deogratius Nsokolo, on November 10, 2024. After getting the appointment and the position, continuing his work as president would conflict with the UTPC constitution,” a letter was written and sent to the leaders of the Journalists’ Clubs in all regions of Tanzania.

In addition, the letter is quoted, “At this time the Vice President of UTPC Mrs. Pendo Mwakyembe will act as President, so for all matters that were directed to the president should be directed to acting president Pendo Mwakyembe, we ask that you also inform your club members regarding this information”.

The Loyal Media has received notice of the resignation of Mr. Nsokolo through the Coordinator of the Morogoro Region Press Club, Mr. Thadei Hafigwa.

However, the election of the UTPC President will be held in 2025.
